App Store Screenshot Generator
Design App Store and Google Play screenshots in the browser — device frames, brand colours, captions, and pixel-exact exports at every resolution Apple and Google accept. Free to start, no design tool required.
A raw device capture is not an App Store screenshot. The images on a product page are marketing assets: a caption that states the value, a background that carries the brand, a device frame that gives the UI context, and a file at exactly the dimensions App Store Connect will accept. The AppScreens generator produces that asset directly, without a design file in between.
It is built alongside an archive of 5,300+ screenshots from 750+ top apps, every one tagged by layout pattern and ASO strategy. The layout variants in the generator are the same four patterns those apps actually use — so you are starting from what works on the store, not from a blank artboard.
What the generator does
- Four layout variants — centred, left, right, floating, and duo arrangements of caption and device, matching the layout patterns catalogued in the archive.
- Device frames — iPhone, iPad, and Android bezels in every official finish, plus 3D posed mockups for depth.
- Brand control — primary and secondary colours, solid, gradient, or image backgrounds, and a Google Fonts typeface picker.
- Captions and elements — headline and subtitle per slide with independent sizing, plus icon and badge elements for ratings, awards, and feature callouts.
- Pixel-exact export — one canvas exports to every accepted resolution at once, as a ZIP, with no rescaling artefacts.
- Video previews — the Video Studioturns the same slides into an App Store preview video within Apple's 15–30 second window.
How to create App Store screenshots
- Start from a template or a blank canvas. The template gallery has 24 designed sets — each brings a palette, fonts, layout variants, and placeholder copy you overwrite.
- Upload your raw captures. One per slide, taken from a simulator or a real device. Resolution does not need to match the export size; the generator scales into the frame.
- Write the captions. One benefit per slide, stated as a claim rather than a feature name. Design the first three as a set — they are what shows in search results.
- Set the brand. Background, primary and secondary colours, and typeface. Consistency across the set matters more than any single slide.
- Export every size. Pick the device classes you are shipping and export in one pass. Upload the files straight to App Store Connect or Play Console.
The long-form version of this process, with examples, is in the guide to creating App Store screenshots.
Export resolutions
Apple organises screenshot uploads by display size rather than device model, and rejects files whose dimensions do not match exactly. These are the sizes the generator exports; portrait dimensions are listed, swap width and height for landscape.
| Platform | Display size | Portrait resolution (px) | Device class |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone | 6.9" | 1320 × 2868 | 6.9" (iPhone 16 Pro Max) |
| iPhone | 6.5" | 1284 × 2778 | 6.5" (iPhone 14 Plus) |
| iPhone | 6.3" | 1206 × 2622 | 6.3" (iPhone 16 Pro) |
| iPhone | 6.1" | 1125 × 2436 | 6.1" (iPhone 13) |
| iPad | 11" | 1488 × 2266 | 11" iPad |
| iPad | 13" | 2064 × 2752 | 13" iPad Pro / Air (Required) |
| Android | 1080p | 1080 × 1920 | 1080 × 1920 · Google Play |
| Android | 1440p | 1440 × 2560 | QHD 1440 × 2560 |
Full format rules — file types, counts per locale, and the constraints that cause an upload to be rejected — are in the App Store screenshot sizes guide.
Free and Pro
The free plan covers three slides, one export at 6.1", and applies a small watermark — enough to design and test a set. Pro is $8/month, or $5/month billed yearly, and removes every limit: unlimited slides, all export resolutions, the 3D and video studios, no watermark, plus Time Machine history and tag filters across the archive.
Frequently asked questions
What is an App Store screenshot generator?
An App Store screenshot generator turns a raw device capture into the marketing image that actually appears on your product page — a captioned, branded frame at the exact pixel dimensions Apple and Google require. The AppScreens generator handles the layout, the device frame, the background, the typography, and the export sizes, so you do not need a design tool or a template file to ship a listing.
Do I need a design tool like Figma or Photoshop?
No. The generator runs entirely in the browser. You upload your raw screenshots, pick a layout variant and a colour palette, type your captions, and export. If you already work in Figma you can still use it — export your artboards as images and drop them in as the screenshot layer.
What resolutions does the generator export?
Every size App Store Connect accepts: 6.9" (1320×2868), 6.5" (1284×2778), 6.3" (1206×2622), and 6.1" (1125×2436) for iPhone; 13" (2064×2752) and 11" (1488×2266) for iPad; and 1440×2560 or 1080×1920 for Google Play. Exports are pixel-exact — App Store Connect rejects files that are even one pixel off.
Is the App Store screenshot generator free?
Yes, with limits. The free plan covers 3 slides, one export at 6.1", and adds a small watermark. Pro ($8/month, or $5/month billed yearly) unlocks unlimited slides, every export resolution, the 3D and video studios, and removes the watermark.
How many screenshots should I make?
Apple allows up to 10 per device size per locale, but the first three do the work — they are what appears in search results before anyone scrolls. Design those three as a unit that tells one story, then add the rest for people who scroll.
Can I start from a template instead of a blank canvas?
Yes. The generator ships 26 designed template sets covering minimal, bold, editorial, playful, dark, gradient, cross-slide, and 3D directions. Each one brings its own palette, fonts, layout variants, and placeholder copy — pick one, swap in your screenshots, and rewrite the captions.
