The archive currently holds 1,904 archived versions across 918 tracked listings.

How often are screenshots checked for changes?

Listings are re-scraped weekly, every Friday, and a new version is archived whenever the screenshots change. Change detection is a perceptual hash of the whole set compared against the last stored one, so a re-scrape that finds identical screenshots creates no new version. That means a listing's version count reflects how often it actually changed, not how many times it was checked.

How far back does a listing's screenshot history go?

History begins when an app enters the archive, not when the app launched — AppScreens started capturing listings in February 2026. Apps tracked since then have the deepest histories; recently added apps may show only their current set until their next listing change. There is no way to recover screenshot versions from before an app was first scraped.

Do I need Pro to see screenshot history?

Yes. Free accounts see the current screenshot set for any app in the archive. Viewing previous versions and comparing them requires Pro ($8/month, or $60/year billed annually).

Can I compare two screenshot versions side by side?

Yes. On any app detail page with two or more archived versions, the Time Machine strip shows every version with its version string and capture date. Click Compare, then pick a second version to view both sets in parallel panels — screenshots stay in sequence, so you can read down the two columns to see which slides changed and which stayed put.

Can the Time Machine tell me whether a change was an A/B test?

No, and treat any tool that claims it can with suspicion. Apple's Product Page Optimization and Google Play's store listing experiments run server-side and are never labelled publicly. What the archive gives you is the fact and the date of a change. A set that appears and then reverts at a later scrape is consistent with a losing test; one that persists is consistent with a rollout — but both are inferences, not evidence.
